Beach
The City of Grover Beach covers 2.25 square miles and is located along the beautiful Central Coast of California, 92 miles north of Santa Barbara and 150 miles south of Monterey. Since D.W. Grover first envisioned a city through the tall weeds, the city that bears his name has grown and changed with the times. The City now has a population of 13,067, as of the year 2000 census. GroverBeach residents and visitors enjoy a mild, Mediterranean climate with cool summers and an average rainfall of 20 inches. Year-round recreational opportunities are offered in and around GroverBeach such as hiking on the dunes, fishing, clamming, golfing, horseback riding, wine tasting, and off-road vehicle riding.
The beach entrance to the Oceano Dunes State Vehicular Recreation Area is located just off Highway 1 at the end of West Grand Avenue in GroverBeach (just one block from the Amtrak Station). Arroyo Grande
Arroyo Grande is located on the Central Coast of California, midway between Los Angeles and San Francisco
. The City is 5.45 square miles in area at an elevation of 114 feet, with a population of 16,523 (2003). Fine homes, fine schools, fine antiques, fine wines, and fine people characterize the area. Civic pride creates a sense of community, and public and private partnerships show progress at a comfortable pace.
A perfect climate is one of Arroyo Grande's biggest assets. Fewer than half a dozen nights each winter drop below 32 degrees, and a summer reading over 83 degrees is a rarity.
Tourism and agriculture spur the local economy and provide the impetus for a "feast" of yearly festivals and celebrations, each one showcasing local products, local pastimes, and local businesses. The annual Strawberry Festival features this most famous crop. The Harvest Festival reminds residents of Arroyo Grande's agricultural heritage; a summer car show boasts a display of more than 300 custom and antique vehicles; and Christmas in the Village charms young and old.
PismoBeach
The City of Pismo Beach was founded in 1891 and incorporated in 1946. It is located mid-way between Los Angeles and San Francisco with a population of 8600. PismoBeach is a recreation and tourism-oriented town with over 30 restaurants and more than 50 hotels, motels, inns and RV parks.
Visitors enjoy a myriad of activities including golfing, bicycling, walking through the Monarch Butterfly Grove, tennis, horseback riding, scuba diving, bowling, hiking, miles of beautiful and clean beaches, exploring tide pools, coves, and caves. Enjoy the 1200 foot Pismo Pier for sightseeing, walking, fishing and seeing the great sunset. Pismo Beach holds a variety of special events including the 4th of July Fireworks Show, Clam Festival, Band Review, Car Show, Mardi Gras, Jubilee-by-the-Sea Dixieland Jazz Festival and Western Days.
San Luis Obispo
In 1856, a dusty mission town on California's Central Coast was incorporated. Today, the City of San Luis Obispo serves as the commercial, governmental and cultural hub of San Luis Obispo County. San Luis Obispo County is on the beautiful California Central Coast halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco. It is also home to California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly), a nationally ranked, four-year, public university that emphasizes a learn by doing educational experience.
